Kim Ki-hyun: "No Need to Worry About the Prosecutor Kingdom... Same Goes for Yongsan"
Victory in the General Election Essential for Success
Discussion from a Broad Perspective Without Personal Interests
Considering Voting Rights for Chinese Residents in Korea as a General Election Pledge
Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, addressed the rising issue of 'prosecutor-origin candidates' ahead of next year's parliamentary general election, stating, "There will be no prosecutor candidates," and "There is no need to worry about a prosecutor kingdom."
On the 21st, at a discussion hosted by the Newspaper and Broadcasting Editors Association held at the Bankers Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul, Kim said in response to questions about candidate nominations, "I have already publicly declared this," adding, "I guarantee it will be so. It must be so in order to win the general election."
When asked about the intentions of Yongsan (the Presidential Office), he replied, "Yongsan's intentions are the same," and clearly stated, "There is absolutely no thought of a prosecutor kingdom. The President surely thinks the same."

Regarding communication between the party and government, Kim said, "I have had one-on-one meetings with President Yoon Seok-yeol very frequently. To my recollection, we have met more than 10 times in a one-on-one format," adding, "Besides meetings, we also call each other, sometimes late at night or early in the morning, discussing current issues."
He added, "Since I became party leader, there has never been discord caused by policy disharmony or inconsistency between the party and government. This is because we communicate closely in advance," and continued, "Through party-government consultations, we effectively convey various public sentiments held by the party and listen to the President's thoughts, sometimes meeting for one or two hours."
When asked whether he plans to arrange or suggest a meeting between President Yoon and Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Kim replied, "If necessary, a meeting between the President and opposition party leader should take place," but added, "A meeting between the leaders of the ruling and opposition parties should come first." Kim repeatedly proposed to Lee not only a TV debate but also a private meeting.
Regarding his proposal in the previous day's negotiation group representative speech to restrict voting rights for Chinese residents in Korea, he said, "If the opposition does not agree, it would be good to uphold the principle of reciprocity even if it means making it a pledge for the general election."

On the issue of corporate tax cuts, he said, "Because the tax revenue situation is very difficult, not right now, but eventually we need to lower the (corporate) tax rate to attract investment, appealing to the public and gaining public support by presenting policies and visions," adding, "That is why next year's general election is important."
