Seeking Solutions for Low Birthrate Era, Presenting a Community Model
POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director Lee Jin-su) announced that it invited Da-rang Lee, CEO of Growing Mom Co., Ltd., as a lecturer to hold a special lecture on childcare for local residents and employee couples, leading efforts to resolve childcare concerns of residents and promote a child-rearing friendly culture within the local community.
On the 20th, about 200 people, including Gwangyang Steelworks employees, group company and partner company employees, as well as residents of Gwangyang City, attended the childcare special lecture held at the Gwangyang Steelworks Education Center under the theme "Understanding the Child and Raising Temperament without Losing Myself."

The special lecture was conducted under the supervision of Da-rang Lee, an expert in "temperament parenting."
Da-rang Lee, as the CEO of Growing Mom Co., Ltd., a professional parent education company, has authored numerous childcare-related books such as "Habits That Do Not Hurt a Child's Heart" and appeared on Sebasi (a program called "Time to Change the World") to share know-how on temperament parenting, gaining wide recognition as a childcare expert lecturer.
The temperament parenting, which was the theme of this special lecture, aims to create a harmonious parenting environment between children and parents by analyzing the innate characteristics called "temperament" of both children and parents and applying play and discipline know-how tailored to these traits.
The lecture was structured to start with an overall introduction to temperament, followed by teaching methods to understand children and customized parenting techniques accordingly.
It continued with a Q&A session with attendees and a personal Q&A time where sensitive questions from individual participants were answered, making the lecture interactive and empathetic.
In particular, this special lecture was meaningful as it was held not only for Gwangyang Steelworks employees but also for group companies, partner companies, and local residents, representing a regional win-win type lecture promoted by the "Corporate Citizen" Gwangyang Steelworks.
So far, Gwangyang Steelworks has been striving to present a "Role Model" at the corporate level to address the low birthrate issue as a "Corporate Citizen." Accordingly, Gwangyang Steelworks is joining forces with local governments to make Gwangyang a city favorable for raising children.
This special lecture was also conducted as part of seeking solutions in the era of low birthrate as a "Corporate Citizen Gwangyang Steelworks."
Previously, Gwangyang Steelworks initiated this childcare special lecture following requests from young employee couples who wanted to obtain professional childcare information.
Gwangyang Steelworks expanded the target audience of the lecture to include partner company employees and local residents to meet the demands for alleviating childcare burdens of its employees and local people and to establish a child-rearing friendly foundation in the Gwangyang area.
With the expansion of the target audience, the lecture received great responses from residents.
A local resident who attended the lecture said, "I am grateful that a representative company in our region prepared such an opportunity," adding, "Thanks to this, Gwangyang City seems to be progressing toward becoming a city good for raising children."
An employee who attended the lecture said, "It seems that Gwangyang Steelworks cares about employees' childcare and provides full support," adding, "I hope such opportunities will continue to be given to group companies, partner companies, and local residents in the future."
Meanwhile, POSCO held a "Policy Seminar for Solving the Low Birthrate Problem" last month at the National Assembly with the Low Birthrate and Aging Society Committee, presenting a role model for solving the low birthrate problem at the company-wide level. Gwangyang Steelworks is also implementing various local childcare support systems such as ▲ operating a win-win type joint workplace daycare center, ▲ a work-from-home system during childcare periods without career interruption, and ▲ infertility treatment support.
