"Only the Kids Are Pitiful" to Instructor Hyun Woo-jin... Jeon Yeo-ok Says "Just Do Free Tutoring"
Instructor Hyun Woo-jin Criticizes Policy to Exclude 'Killer Questions'
Jeon Yeo-ok: "Top Instructors' Actions Are Greedy Agitation"
Regarding the government's announcement to exclude 'killer questions' outside the scope of public education from the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), famous CSAT math instructor Hyun Woo-jin criticized, saying "Only the students are pitiful." In response, former lawmaker Jeon Yeo-ok rebuked him, saying, "If you feel that pitiful about the students, then provide private tutoring yourself."
On the 20th, former lawmaker Jeon posted a scolding message titled "Hyun Woo-jin, are you Jung Woo-sung?" on her blog.
Jeon said, "President Yoon Seok-yeol's 'NO killer questions' is truly the right statement," and pointed out that the instructors criticizing the government's policy are engaging in "greedy agitation."
She added, "What is outrageous is the phrase 'the students are pitiful,'" and said, "If you feel that pitiful about the students, then provide 24-hour private tutoring for killer questions and distribute workbooks for free."
She continued, "Why should there be killer questions?" and "It is enough to teach the basics needed to understand university lectures," arguing, "If you really feel sorry for the students, let's stop the killer questions."
Earlier, on the 17th, Hyun Woo-jin posted on his social media with an article stating that "the public education CSAT policy was not implemented in the June mock exam, and the president reprimanded this," along with the comment, "Only the students are pitiful," and "What are they going to do about the September (mock exam) and the CSAT?"
He said, "As I always say, the June and September (mock exams) and the CSAT are independently administered, so from now on, it is impossible to predict what kind of difficulty level will be presented, so all scenarios must be prepared," and added, "You must definitely study EBS materials."
He further added, "Critical thinking is important, but at least for the exam, please open your mind with non-critical thinking that anything can appear."
Besides Hyun, many instructors voiced concerns and criticisms about the government's CSAT-related policies.
