President Yoon Suk-yeol will continue promoting the bid for the Busan Expo by attending the '2030 Busan World Expo Official Reception' on the last day of his 3-day visit to France on the 21st (local time).
Kim Tae-hyo, First Deputy Director of the National Security Office, announced at a late afternoon briefing in Paris on the 20th that President Yoon will attend the official reception held in conjunction with the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) General Assembly.
Deputy Director Kim stated, "Saudi Arabia held a reception on the 19th, and Italy held a dinner reception today," adding, "At the Korean reception, Amjad Shaka, the General Director of the Expo from Saudi Arabia, and Livorio Stellino, the Ambassador to France from Italy, are expected to attend."
Following his speech as a presenter at the BIE General Assembly competition PT the previous day, President Yoon plans to highlight Busan Expo's hosting determination and capabilities to the 179 BIE member countries at this reception to the fullest extent.
In addition, President Yoon will attend the 'Paris Digital Vision Forum' held at Sorbonne University. Deputy Director Kim explained, "At this event, President Yoon is scheduled to deliver a speech on the necessity of establishing digital order norms to ensure that digital technology develops in a way that contributes to the expansion of human welfare."
Regarding the content of the Sorbonne speech, he emphasized, "Going beyond the digital divide issues highlighted in the New York initiative, the speech will stress the conveniences brought by the digital artificial intelligence (AI) era while paradoxically warning about the risks that may threaten human freedom, and will underscore the need to create new norms for the digital age."
President Yoon has consistently visited universities in countries he tours overseas to engage in dialogue with youth and experts. During his visit to New York in September last year for the United Nations General Assembly, he participated in discussions on solidarity for digital free citizens at New York University, and at the University of Toronto in Canada, he held talks with experts on AI.
In January this year, he discussed quantum technology and related industries with scholars at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. During his visit to Tokyo, Japan, in March, he attended a Korea-Japan future generation lecture held at Keio University, and in April, during his state visit to the United States, he participated in the MIT Digital Bio Dialogue and delivered a speech and Q&A session at Harvard University under the theme 'A New Journey Toward Freedom.'
