Gyeonggi-do Conducts 'Quarantine Inspections' at 922 Poultry Farms... Until the End of July
Gyeonggi Province will conduct a "Summer-wide Disinfection Inspection" focusing on disinfection facilities and compliance with disinfection guidelines at poultry farms in the province until the end of July.
The inspection targets 922 full-scale poultry farms with 3,000 or more chickens, 2,000 or more ducks and quails, and 100 or more other poultry.
This inspection is a strengthened biosecurity measure to prevent the introduction of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) virus into poultry farms through migratory birds during the winter season.
The main inspection items include ▲ the presence or absence of abnormalities in legally required disinfection facilities (anterooms, disinfection rooms, fences, screens, CCTV, etc.) ▲ proper operation of disinfection facilities such as entrance disinfection equipment and shoe disinfection pools ▲ management status of disinfectants ▲ whether entry and disinfection records are maintained, among others.
Gyeonggi Province previously notified the targeted poultry farms on the 2nd with a disinfection management manual and an inspection checklist in advance.
This inspection will mainly focus on on-site guidance, and farms found to have deficiencies will be issued correction orders.
Gyeonggi Province plans to take strict measures such as imposing fines on farms that fail to improve deficiencies within the period upon subsequent detection.

He added, "This disinfection inspection aims to reorganize disinfection facilities in preparation for this winter, so we ask for active cooperation in the inspection."
