‘AI Food Scanner’ Installed in 5 Daycare Centers, Providing Daily Healthcare Reports
Program Helps Daycare Centers and Families Collaborate to Manage Children’s Healthy Eating Habits
Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Park Hee-young) completed the installation of ‘AI Food Scanners’ in five daycare centers on the 19th. This initiative aims to systematically manage the nutrition of children in daycare centers using artificial intelligence (AI).
After meals, children scan their trays through a play method using characters, and the AI analyzes the leftover food amount using big data to send customized healthcare reports to both the daycare centers and parents.
A parent attending the project briefing said, “My child is a picky eater, so I was always worried about what and how much they ate,” adding, “I felt frustrated because I couldn’t ask every time, but now that I receive daily reports, my concerns will be resolved.”
The daycare centers manage individual children’s eating habit data based on the collected information, and parents receive daily updates on their child’s meal quantity and nutritional intake. This program helps daycare centers and families work together to support children’s healthy eating habits.
The district selected five pilot sites (one workplace daycare center and four public daycare centers) and held preliminary briefing sessions for each daycare center in May before the full-scale project launch. After a three-month pilot operation, the project’s effectiveness and satisfaction will be surveyed, with plans to expand the program next year.
