Gwangjin-gu Hosts '2023 Haengbok Nanum Music Concert'
On the 20th at Naru Art Center... Attended by over 600 residents and District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho
Invited underprivileged groups, field workers in cleaning sectors, volunteers, and others for a deeply moving event
Diverse cultural performances including trot, comedy, traditional Korean music, and classical music were showcased
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held the ‘Gwangjin Happiness Sharing Concert’ on the 20th, a cultural and artistic performance event with residents.
As the once-shrinking cultural and artistic scene began to flourish again, Gwangjin-gu organized the ‘Gwangjin Happiness Sharing Concert’ to create a harmonious space for communication with residents through performances.
Hosted by the Korea Entertainers’ Unity Association (Chairman Kim Sang-hee), this concert was especially meaningful as it brought together a diverse group of residents to enjoy the performances in one place.
The district invited underprivileged groups with limited access to cultural arts, field workers in the cleaning sector who silently work through the hot summer, volunteers, and others, with a total of over 600 residents attending the concert held at Naru Art Center. District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho also attended, adding prestige to the event.
The stage opened with performances by talented residents. First, the saxophone performance by the Guui-dong Saxophone Volunteer Team captured the scattered attention of the audience, and the dance by merchants from Jayang-dong Alley Market, winners of the Popularity Award at the 2019 National Singing Contest, heated up the atmosphere.
Following this, a variety of cultural performances captivated the eyes and ears of the residents, hosted by announcer Kim Byung-chan.
Singers Kim Hye-yeon, Kim Sang-hee, Kim Guk-hwan, Hyun-sook, Woo Yeon-i, and So-myeong energized the stage with lively ‘trot’ music, while comedians Won Il and Bang Il-su delivered hearty laughter with their ‘comedy’ acts. Traditional Korean musicians Kang Mi-kyung and Min Young-ok beautifully performed a soulful ‘gugak’ (traditional Korean music) piece, and the concert concluded with a resonant classical vocal performance by soprano Ahn Sung-min.
A resident who attended the concert said, “I was so happy to watch a large-scale performance for free that I couldn’t enjoy for a while due to COVID-19,” adding, “It felt like all my stress just flew away.”
