Expanding Opportunities for Ecological Learning Participation and Promoting Healthy Civic Awareness

Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 17th that it has launched the "Eco Expedition Team" to create a Jeollanam-do-style ecological learning city.

The Jeollanam-do-style ecological learning city creation project aims to expand opportunities for ecological learning participation in residents' daily lives and to enhance healthy civic awareness.

It supports the operation of ecological learning programs utilizing ecological resources, such as the Eco Expedition Team for parents and children and training Eco Leader activists.

The "Gurye Eco Expedition Team" program was held on the 17th at the Jirisan History and Culture Center.

Ahead of the Dano holiday, about 40 parents and children participants experienced various traditional cultures such as changpo water experience and making hanji fans.

Starting in July, the county plans to promote various ecological and cultural experience programs, including the "Carbon Zero Challenge Golden Bell" to practice carbon neutrality, the Seomjingang Playground utilizing Seomjingang ecological resources, ecological art activities based on pressed flowers, and hydrangea garden experiences at Gurye Arboretum.

Additionally, the county will promote the "Eco Leader Training Course" to train professional ecological activists and a citizen campaign to attract the COP33 United Nations Climate Change Conference to Jeollanam-do, encouraging participation in carbon neutrality practices and raising awareness of the importance of climate protection.

A county official said, "We were worried as this is the first year of the ecological learning city project, but the positive response from participants in the experience programs marked a successful first step," adding, "We will continue to do our best to operate various high-quality ecological learning programs to establish Jeollanam-do's premier ecological learning city and the Seomjingang area ecological learning city."
