Gwangju Buk-gu Selected for Welfare and Safety Service Improvement Model Development Support Project
On the 20th, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it was finally selected for the '2023 Eupmyeondong Smart Welfare and Safety Service Improvement Model Development Support Project' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
This contest aims to develop an improved service model for eupmyeondong using information and communication technology and local communities to proactively identify welfare, safety, and blind spots and strengthen support for vulnerable groups.
As a result of the contest, 12 local governments from 7 cities and provinces nationwide were selected as project execution agencies, and Buk-gu, which proposed a resident-led safe village and smart care welfare system construction model, was the only one included from Gwangju City.
With the selection in this contest, Buk-gu plans to invest a total project cost of 80 million won to strengthen disaster and safety functions at the dong level based on public-private cooperation and to discover and support crisis households using information and communication technology.
First, a safety inspection team composed of resident councils such as tongjangdan and autonomous disaster prevention groups will be pilot-operated in Yongbong-dong to carry out village safety activities such as inspecting hazardous facilities, preventing seasonal disasters, visiting vulnerable households, and identifying local safety issues.
In addition, in collaboration with organizations such as the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation and the Korea Thermal Management Construction Association, a safety keeper project for welfare and safety vulnerable households will be promoted, including electrical and boiler safety inspections, support for daily safety kits, and home repairs for safety-vulnerable houses.
In particular, by establishing a customized smart care system such as providing AI care calls and speakers and introducing a welfare administration platform, Buk-gu plans to eliminate care gaps for single vulnerable households that require welfare checks and emotional support.
