"Democratic Party to Undergo Comprehensive Innovation"… Kim Eun-kyung's Innovation Committee Officially Launched
Kim Eun-kyung "Restore ethics to regain trust in the Democratic Party"
Lee Jae-myung "Will not fully accept discussions on the innovation body"
The Democratic Party of Korea's Innovation Committee (tentative name) officially launched on the 20th. Kim Eun-kyung, the Innovation Committee Chair of the Democratic Party, promised a "comprehensive reform." Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party leader, pledged to fully accept the proposals discussed by the Innovation Committee.
At the first Innovation Committee meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Chair Kim pointed out, "There are not many people who consider the opposition party as an alternative despite the government and ruling party's inadequate response," adding, "This is because the Democratic Party is failing to gain the public's trust. There is no change or reflection, and it is perceived as a symbol of vested interests and double standards." He stated, "With a desperate determination that reform must start with the Democratic Party to set politics right, I accepted the difficult path of serving as the Innovation Committee Chair of the Democratic Party," and emphasized, "The Democratic Party needs a comprehensive reform. It must become a party that offers hope for the future of the people, not a symbol of vested interest politics."
He added, "The Innovation Committee will pursue a full-scale innovation, not just a minor surgery," and "We will diagnose the problems of the Democratic Party and initiate a fundamental transformation."
Chair Kim mentioned incidents such as the money envelope scandal during the party convention and the cryptocurrency investment scandal involving lawmakers, stating, "The Innovation Committee will propose concrete measures to restore ethics and make the Democratic Party a trusted party." He also said, "We intend to propose not only ethical restoration but also political restoration." He explained, "We will create an effective political system that improves people's lives and solves societal problems before the public suffers," adding, "The party must be inclusive and expansive enough to embrace even those who support opposing political forces, respect party members, and faithfully reflect the public's will."
He warned against internal division and hate incitement related to the Innovation Committee going forward. Chair Kim declared, "From this moment on, we will show no tolerance for any attempts or remarks that promote internal division, incite hatred, or hinder the momentum of innovation."
Chair Kim introduced the Innovation Committee members, including lawyer Kim Nam-hee, Yoon Hyung-jung, CEO of LAB2050, Seo Bok-kyung, CEO of The Possible Research Institute, Lee Jin-guk, professor at Ajou University Graduate School of Law, Cha Ji-ho, professor at KAIST Graduate School of Future Strategy, Lee Hae-sik, Deputy Secretary-General of the Democratic Party Organization, and Lee Seon-ho, Chair of the Democratic Party Ulsan Metropolitan City Party Committee. Chair Kim explained, "I requested the Democratic Party to send young people, including youth and women," and added, "We plan to invite more members."

We regret that the Democratic Party of Korea is not sufficiently loved or recognized by our people. We reflect on this and aim to show our people a new path and a new image of the Democratic Party," promising, "The Democratic Party will fully accept the proposals discussed and finalized by this Innovation Committee and will work together and do our best to become a party loved by the people."
