'Jeon-gwa 50-beom' Monk Assaults Pedestrians and Police Officers While Drunk
A monk in his 50s who assaulted pedestrians and a police officer while intoxicated has been sent to prosecution in custody.
The Dongbu Police Station in Gwangju announced on the 20th that they have sent monk A (in his 50s) to prosecution in custody on charges including obstruction of official duties.
The police explained that they decided on custody investigation considering that the crime was committed during a probation period.
A is suspected of provoking and assaulting two pedestrians on a street in Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, around 10 p.m. on the 16th.
It was investigated that he committed the crime against strangers without any reason while being heavily intoxicated.
After being apprehended by the police, A is also charged with assaulting a police officer who tried to stop him from smoking inside the police substation.
