A man in his 30s arrested for embezzling large sums by impersonating the Financial Supervisory Service
A voice phishing cash collector impersonating a financial institution was arrested by the police.
The Gwangju Dongbu Police Station announced on the 19th that they had arrested A (31) on charges of fraud.
A is accused of swindling more than 190 million won from eight voice phishing victims in Gwangju Metropolitan City, as well as Jeonnam and Jeonbuk, in May.
He deceived the victims by impersonating an employee of the Financial Supervisory Service, saying, "Your account is involved in a crime and needs to be investigated."
