Han Deok-su: "We Will Actively Respond to False Claims and Propaganda About Fukushima Contaminated Water"
"I will establish an information disclosure system"
Prime Minister Han Duck-soo recently announced that he will actively respond to the intentional spread of false information related to Fukushima contaminated water and seafood.
On the 18th, Prime Minister Han attended a high-level ruling party-government meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and said, "Currently, rumors and false information at the level of agitation are being spread, which will ultimately cause public anxiety and threaten the livelihood of those working in the fisheries industry."
Prime Minister Han explained, "The government will maintain the current import restrictions on seafood directly related to public safety unless its safety is scientifically proven," and added, "We will establish a perfect system to transparently disclose information based on science."
He also emphasized, "So far, the radiation levels along the domestic coast have been at the same level as before the 2011 Fukushima accident," and "After inspecting more than 75,000 cases of seafood distributed domestically since 2011, not a single case of non-compliance has occurred."
