Establishing a Gumi-tailored Metaverse Innovation Zone Strategy Leading the Digital Industry
Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province (Mayor Kim Jang-ho), together with Gyeongbuk Province (Governor Lee Cheol-woo), has embarked on establishing a strategy to make Gumi a global metaverse innovation hub.
On the 16th, Gumi City held a kickoff briefing session for the 'Global Metaverse Innovation Special Zone Development Plan' project at the city hall's medium conference room, attended by officials from Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province, and experts from related organizations.
This project was planned to create an innovation special zone in Gumi centered on the metaverse industry, which has strong growth potential and ripple effects, and to develop measures to attract innovative companies and grow into a global industrial city leading the digital industry based on this foundation.
During the briefing, discussions were held on the future direction and strategies of the project based on an internal and external analysis of the metaverse environment and the business promotion plan, incorporating opinions from local experts.
The main tasks include establishing detailed business plans and a promotion roadmap for strategic areas such as ▲infrastructure development ▲testbed construction ▲R&D ▲industry promotion to create the global metaverse innovation special zone. The feasibility and effectiveness will be strengthened through the operation of a metaverse expert committee and corporate demand surveys.
Deputy Mayor Kim Ho-seop stated, "Through this research project, we will discover projects to foster the new metaverse industry and build its foundation, and furthermore, by activating the settlement of related companies and investment attraction within the innovation special zone, we will nurture Gumi as a global metaverse hub," showing high expectations for Gumi as a global metaverse industrial city.
