Gyeonggi-do to Conduct Joint Inspection of 'Imdo' by the End of This Month Ahead of Rainy Season
Gyeonggi Province is conducting joint inspections with city and county governments on forest road project sites near residential areas and regions prone to forest disasters to prepare for disasters caused by abnormal weather such as heavy rainfall.
Forest roads are roads installed for the transportation of forest products or for forest management purposes.
Since the end of April, Gyeonggi Province has been conducting self-inspections on a total of 202 sites (564.45 km, 3.89 ha), including ▲36 forest roads near residential areas (98.5 km) ▲29 forest road damage sites over the past five years (2018?2022) (3.89 ha, 5.73 km) ▲137 forest road facility project sites over the past three years (2020?2022) (460.22 km), checking the condition of structures, installation of drainage facilities, protection of nearby residences, and safety management measures against heavy rainfall, the province announced on the 16th.
For forest roads requiring intensive safety inspections and those at risk of damage among the forest road facilities, joint inspections will be conducted with forest road experts such as forest technicians by the end of this month.
Additionally, urgent measures such as maintenance of drainage channels and collection wells, and removal of trees will be completed before the rainy season to ensure the safety of the forest roads.
