On the 15th, Yongin City announced that it will conduct the 'Yongin City Bus Transportation Worker Training' and the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Bus Driver Training Project' to address the difficulties faced by the bus transportation industry due to a sharp decline in drivers and to revitalize bus operations.
Yongin City will first recruit 50 participants through the Bus Transportation Worker Training program. For this project, the city secured 64 million KRW from the provincial government and 16 million KRW from the city budget.
The target participants are citizens aged 20 or older who have obtained a Class 1 Large Vehicle License. Considering the age of village bus drivers, Yongin City will prioritize selecting citizens aged 61 to 70 to provide job opportunities suited to local characteristics.
Yongin City will also conduct the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Bus Driver Training Project.'
The training is aimed at job seekers aged between 20 and 60.
Applicants must go through the hiring process of 11 local transportation companies, including Sanghyeon Transport, Dongbaek Transport, and Suseong Transportation, which have agreements with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority. Those who are finally selected will receive training at the Korea Transportation Safety Authority Hwaseong Transportation Safety Experience Education Center.
Participants will receive both theoretical and practical training, starting with driving skill assessments and bus adaptation, followed by driving courses, parking, and safety accident response procedures to learn bus driving techniques. Yongin City will support the program with a total of 64 million KRW.
