Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Awards Commendation Certificates to Citizens for Excellence in Emergency Medical Scenes
Gwangju Seobu Fire Station announced on the 14th that it awarded commendations to university students who saved a precious life by providing first aid to a citizen who collapsed on a city bus.
The university students who received the commendations that day were Myunghak Lee, Junha Lee, and Juhyun Jeong, all enrolled at Honam University. On the 16th of last month, around 5:20 PM, when a man in his 70s lost consciousness and collapsed on the bus, they immediately rushed over and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The three students said, "Having learned CPR beforehand was very helpful," and added, "We just did what was natural, so we are grateful to receive such an honorable award."

A fire official stated, "We highly appreciate their selfless spirit in not ignoring a citizen in danger and taking action," and added, "We will continue to strengthen safety education, including CPR training."
