Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that on June 8th, in celebration of the 'Month of Patriots and Veterans,' it held a delivery ceremony together with the Seoul Chamber of Commerce Songpa-gu Chamber of Commerce (Chairman Bong Yu-jong) to donate quilted bedding sets to low-income national merit recipients and veterans' families.
The delivery ceremony was attended by Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, Bong Yu-jong, Chairman of the Songpa-gu Chamber of Commerce, Kim Ae-kyung, Senior Vice Chairman, and Noh Beon-ung, Chairman of the Songpa-gu Veterans Hall Management Council. The Songpa-gu Chamber of Commerce donated 150 quilted bedding sets (worth approximately 10 million KRW), prepared with members' contributions, to low-income national merit recipients and veterans' families.
The Songpa-gu Chamber of Commerce has been leading warm support for the local community. Since 2015, it has annually selected scholarship students and provided scholarships to students who strive to excel academically despite difficult circumstances. To date, a total of 125 scholarship students have been supported with scholarships worth about 120 million KRW.
Additionally, part of the profits from the excellent small and medium-sized enterprise product sales exhibition has been donated to the 'Warm Winter Campaign.' Every year, through the 'Love Kimchi Making' event, kimchi is shared with low-income households, continuing its contribution activities for the local community.
Bong Yu-jong, Chairman of the Songpa-gu Chamber of Commerce, said, "We have taken part in sharing by providing bedding to needy veterans' families to honor the sacrifice and dedication of national merit recipients and to give back in some way." He added, "We will continue to pay attention to our neighbors in the local community and strive to find ways to offer help."
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, responded, "The prosperity and glory we enjoy today were made possible because of the national merit recipients who dedicated and sacrificed themselves for the country." He expressed gratitude, saying, "On the occasion of June, the Month of Patriots and Veterans, I thank the Songpa-gu Chamber of Commerce for warmly supporting veterans' families with donations."
