This changgeuk was held as part of the "2023 Traditional Performing Arts Excellent Works Reperformance Support Project," hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by Yeongam-gun and the Traditional Performing Arts Promotion Foundation.
"Kind Pig" is a musical adapted from the eponymous fairy tale by writer Shin Jeong-min, which draws out children's boundless imagination and encourages them to freely pursue their desired dreams.
Produced by the Sejong Gugak Orchestra with 31 years of tradition, this work blends fairy tales and gugak (traditional Korean music), featuring performers such as a pansori singer, musical actors, a gugak live band, and sign language interpreters, delivering an emotional experience to the audience.
In particular, the combination of changgeuk and musical created inventive and interesting scenarios that received great responses from children.
