President Yoon Suk-yeol on the 12th urged, regarding the fraudulent use of subsidies for private organizations and educational grants, "Please ensure thorough follow-up measures so that not a single penny of taxpayers' money is wasted."
On the same day, after discussing measures to prevent financial leakage with Prime Minister Han Duck-soo during their weekly meeting, President Yoon said, "There is great public outrage," and gave these instructions.
In response, Prime Minister Han stated, "We will ensure thorough continuous inspections, bold corresponding measures, and system reforms to prevent not only budgets directly executed by the government but also various funds and public institution budgets from being used fraudulently."
Earlier, on the 4th, the Presidential Office announced the results of a comprehensive audit conducted under the coordination of the Office for Government Policy Coordination over four months from January, covering subsidy projects for private organizations by 29 ministries. They declared their intention to take necessary legal actions. This investigation was conducted as part of the Yoon administration's national agenda from December last year, titled 'Enhancing Transparency of Subsidies for Non-Profit Private Organizations.' It targeted approximately KRW 6.8 trillion in national subsidies paid to about 12,000 private organizations over the past three years. The audit revealed 1,865 cases of fraud and corruption in projects totaling KRW 1.1 trillion.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Office commented on the afternoon's rejection of the arrest warrants for lawmakers Yoon Kwan-seok and Lee Sung-man at the National Assembly, stating, "We believe the public has made their judgment in their hearts regarding the outcome." The arrest warrants for lawmakers Yoon and Lee failed to meet the approval requirements (a majority of the total members present and a majority of those present) in a secret ballot. The arrest warrant for lawmaker Yoon received 139 votes in favor (47.4%) out of 293, and the warrant for lawmaker Lee received 132 votes in favor (45.1%) out of 293. The People Power Party voted 'in favor as party policy' on the arrest warrants that day.
