Wando-gun Completes Construction of Sports Park in Gogeum-myeon

Equipped with Soccer Field, Basketball Court, Jokgu Court, Playground, and Walking Trail

Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do held a completion ceremony for the Gogeum-myeon Sports Park on the 9th.

According to the county on the 12th, about 300 people attended the ceremony, including County Governor Shin Woo-cheol, Wando County Council Chairman Heo Gung-hee, Provincial Assemblyman Shin Ui-jun, county council members, Wando County Sports Association President Choi Kyung-chul, heads of institutions and social organizations in Gogeum-myeon, and residents.

The Gogeum-myeon Sports Park project involved a total investment of 4 billion KRW. Construction began in May last year, creating an eco-friendly soccer field, basketball court, jokgu court, children's playground, and walking trails over an area of 20,052㎡.

In particular, from the basic and detailed design stages, the project aimed to develop sports facilities equipped with ‘S·E·A’?Safety, Environment, and Amenity.

Meanwhile, following the park golf course established in March last year, the sports park was created in Gogeum-myeon, enabling residents to enjoy various indoor and outdoor sports activities.

Governor Shin Woo-cheol stated, “Gogeum-myeon is expected to attract many training camps and tourists as facilities that promote health, such as the nearby Marine Healing Center, are established, leveraging its geographical advantages. We will continue to strengthen efforts to expand various sports facilities to improve residents’ quality of life through health promotion and to advance as a sports tourism city.”
