'Baby & Kids' Expo Held at Daegu EXCO ... 500 Maternity and Childcare Brands Participate
Daegu City Operates Birth Policy Promotion Center
EXCO, co-hosted by Messe Isang and sponsored by Daegu City, will hold the "36th Daegu Baby & Kids Expo" at EXCO from the 15th to the 18th. Daegu City will operate a childbirth policy promotion center at this expo.
The Daegu Baby & Kids Expo, which started in 2002 and has been held 36 times through 2023, has grown into the largest baby and childcare products expo in the Yeongnam region by introducing and selling various latest brands of pregnancy, childbirth, and early childhood education products.
This event will feature a large participation of 150 domestic and international brands and over 500 companies that are difficult to meet offline. Notably, for the second time following 2022, Daegu City's childbirth policy promotion center, where childbirth and childcare policies can be checked in one place, will be operated.
The childbirth policy promotion center is themed "Children's Laughter, Daegu's Voice of Hope" and is composed of five zones: Single & Married ZONE, Pregnancy & Infertility ZONE, Birth ZONE, Childcare ZONE, and Play ZONE. It provides childbirth and childcare policy information and various experiential programs operated by four participating organizations.
In the Single & Married ZONE, policies such as small weddings for engaged couples and interest support for newlywed housing loans are promoted. The participating organization, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk branch of the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association, operates experiential programs such as personal color tests and taking four-cut photo booth pictures.
In the Pregnancy & Infertility ZONE, support for infertility treatment costs for infertile couples, medical expenses for high-risk pregnant women, and fetal anomaly screening are promoted. The Daegu Regional Infertility and Depression Counseling Center provides mental health counseling for pregnant women (including spouses) and emotional recovery programs such as making acrylic mood lamps. Additionally, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk branch of the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association offers various experiential programs including late pregnancy experience, holding baby models, and making aroma baby massage oil.
The Birth ZONE provides overall childbirth policy information such as the first meeting voucher and introduces support projects including maternal and newborn health care and the Daegu-type maternal health care worker dispatch project. The Daegu Nurses Association invites professional nurses to conduct parent safety education on infant and toddler first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and prevention of choking accidents, as well as health consultations for pregnant women including gestational diabetes and hypertension tests.
In the Childcare ZONE, the Daegu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center offers childcare counseling and part-time childcare service consultations. The center also operates a free toy sharing program and a toy sharing market where families with infants and toddlers can exchange toys.
A Play ZONE will also be set up where infants and toddlers can freely run, play, and rest while parents shop.
Seminars where parents can obtain childcare information and enjoy time with their children will also be held. These seminars, free for expo visitors, include beneficial programs presented by childcare experts such as the parenting class "Dudream Healthy Mom Class," "Wise Breastfeeding Life" by Women’s and Children’s Hospital, "Mom’s Story Maternity Class," and "Newborn Care and Postpartum Care" by Director Kim Hye-jung of the postpartum care center.
Additionally, the "100 Dads Experience Program," a play experience for fathers and children, will be held during the event period, allowing the whole family to enjoy together.
