Gwangju Dong-gu 'Atta Maeul Happy Culture Outing' Event
Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, recently held the ‘Atta Village Happy Culture Outing’ event with culturally marginalized residents of Sansu 1-dong, the city announced on the 11th.
The event provided an opportunity for local residents, who had limited access to cultural experiences due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, to visit the exhibition hall of the 14th Gwangju Biennale and the National Asia Culture Center and enjoy the artworks.
Previously, Dong-gu was the first basic local government nationwide to establish the ‘Dong-gu Welfare Standards’ aimed at improving residents’ quality of life. According to this standard, neighbors receiving care within the district are provided with cultural enjoyment opportunities, including watching cultural performances (movies, plays, music, arts) at least once every six months.
In October 2020, the district was selected for the ‘Atta (Beautiful and Warm)! Project’ through the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s special social security support zone contest, receiving 1.07 billion KRW in national and city funding over four years until this year.
