Incheon-daero Underground Project Passes Central Investment Review... Target Completion in 2027

An underground road will be constructed by 2027 on the section of Incheon-daero, the old Gyeongin Expressway.

On the 11th, Incheon City announced that the "Gongdan Overpass to Seo-Incheon IC Congested Road Project" has passed the central investment review by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

This project involves investing a total of 504.1 billion KRW, including national funds, to build a four-lane underground road (total length 4.5 km) on Incheon-daero (Gajwa IC to Seo-Incheon IC section), the old Gyeongin Expressway.

Since passing the preliminary feasibility study by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance in December last year, Incheon City has requested an investment review from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in accordance with the Local Finance Act, actively persuading the necessity of the underground road to alleviate severe traffic congestion.

With the approval of the central investment review, the city plans to complete the basic plan establishment and design for the underground road construction project by the end of this year and start full-scale construction next year. The completion is targeted for 2027.
