Violinist Jin Yeyeong Wins 1st Place in Michael Hill International Competition Finals
Violinist Jin Yeyeong took first place in the finals of the 2023 Michael Hill International Violin Competition held on the 10th in Auckland, New Zealand.
According to the Kumho Cultural Foundation, Jin Yeyeong received a first prize of 40,000 New Zealand dollars (approximately 30 million KRW) and will go on a winner's tour with the New Zealand Chamber Music and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.
Jin Yeyeong also received two special awards. The prize for the chamber music special award is 2,000 New Zealand dollars (approximately 1.6 million KRW), and as a prize for the 'Sheila Smith' special award, she will lease a 'Domenico Montagnana' violin for three years.
Jin Yeyeong has won first place in the Music Chunchu Competition and the Boy Korea Daily Competition, was runner-up in the Stulberg International String Competition, and won the New York Summer Music Festival Competition.
She entered the Curtis Institute of Music at the age of 10 and studied under Ida Kavafian, and is currently studying under Li Lin and Itzhak Perlman in the bachelor's program at the Juilliard School.

The Michael Hill International Violin Competition is a contest for young violinists aged 18 to 28 and has been held biennially since 2001.
Sixteen participants advanced to the finals in this competition, and three, including Jin Yeyeong, advanced to the final round.
