Ulsan Office of Education Enhances School Adaptation for New and Low-Experience Vocational High School Teachers
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is supporting training programs to enhance the school adaptability and work competency of new and low-experience teachers at vocational high schools.
From the 9th to the 10th of this month, the Ulsan Office of Education is conducting a "Vocational High School New and Low-Experience Teacher Competency Enhancement Training" over one night and two days at the Gyeongju Dream Center, targeting 21 new and low-experience teachers with less than four years of experience in specialized vocational subjects.
Recently, vocational high schools have unique characteristics such as National Competency Standards (NCS) practical training, basic vocational skills, certification acquisition, employment guidance, and student life guidance, which have led to difficulties for new and low-experience teachers in adapting to the school environment, according to feedback from the field.
To address this, the Office of Education has been promoting a new project since last year focused on "Improving Job Performance Ability and Enhancing School Adaptability."
The training program includes guidance on vocational education policies, strategies to respond to rapidly changing new industry sectors, safe field training, and employment activation.
A mentoring session with senior teachers was also arranged, where participants shared opinions on various topics such as student life guidance know-how, understanding school organizational culture, and communication methods across generations.
A new teacher who participated in this training said, "It was a very beneficial time where I could gain confidence in working as a vocational high school teacher by learning the secrets of senior teachers and sharing empathy with teachers of similar experience."
In May, the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education conducted a vocational high school understanding training for 36 general subject teachers who transferred to vocational high schools to improve their adaptability.
