Hamyang-gun Selected for 'Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project' Competition
Three Villages Selected as Project Sites
Secured 6.5 Billion KRW in National and Other Funding
Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has secured 6.5 billion KRW in national funding after three villages were selected as final project sites for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ ‘2024 Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project’.
The Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project (Saedeul Project) aims to ensure basic living standards for residents in vulnerable areas by expanding essential living infrastructure such as safety and sanitation, improving residential environments, and supporting resident capacity building.
With this project selection, the three villages will undergo detailed project planning through consultations with central government ministries. After finalizing the project budget, various initiatives will be carried out over four years, including housing maintenance projects to demolish abandoned houses and slate roofs left unattended, village road improvements, village hall remodeling, and resident capacity enhancement.
Seoklim District in Anui-myeon, Hamyang-gun, will remodel its old village welfare center to enhance facility safety and convenience, relocate and install a communal garbage collection site, and promote village road expansion and guardrail installation.
Seopyeong District in Sudong-myeon, Hamyang-gun, is expected to contribute to a prosperous rural community by enhancing resident safety through slope reinforcement and maintenance of stormwater pipes and drainage channels to prevent landslides, as well as improving resident convenience through village hall remodeling and maintenance of village communication paths.
The project budget is approximately 6.5 billion KRW. Despite the country’s economic development, these marginalized areas have suffered from a lack of basic living infrastructure and narrow access roads. This project is expected to significantly contribute to improving residents’ quality of life and promoting regional balanced development.
