"On-Duty Police Officer Leaves Work Early Without Permission and Commits Assault"…Wife Files Complaint
A complaint from a wife alleging that a frontline police officer left work without permission during duty hours and committed assault has been received, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
The Gwangju Nambu Police Station announced on the 7th that they have received a complaint from the wife accusing 40-year-old Officer A, affiliated with the Jeonnam Police Agency, of assault and violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes, and that he has been booked without detention and is under investigation.
Officer A is accused of threatening his wife, Mrs. B, with a collapsible baton and hitting her multiple times with his hand earlier this year at their residence in Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City. He is also charged with stalking for repeatedly calling and texting his wife after she left the house, unable to endure the assault.
The police, who received the complaint earlier last month, have completed the victim's investigation and plan to summon Officer A for questioning soon.
