"Don't Lose Hope Even When It's Difficult"
The Ministry of Education (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Ju-ho) and the Korea Student Aid Foundation (Chairman Bae Byung-il) selected 300 students for the first round of the '2023 Lottery Fund Dream Ladder Scholarship Project' SOS Scholarship on the 31st of last month.
The Lottery Fund Dream Ladder Scholarship SOS Scholarship is aimed at middle and high school students who face difficulties continuing their studies due to crisis situations such as personal illness, parental death, or disasters. Since its establishment in 2020, the number of selected students has been continuously expanded, increasing from 50 in 2020 to 200 in 2021, and 600 in 2022.
For the first round of the 2023 SOS Scholarship, 1,359 middle and high school students nationwide applied from April 3 to April 28. Through document screening and in-depth evaluation, 300 students with the determination to continue their studies despite crisis situations were urgently selected.
Selected scholarship recipients will receive 300,000 KRW per month for a total of 10 months. Starting in June, psychological stabilization and various educational programs will be operated to fully support the scholars in continuing their studies stably.
Bae Byung-il, Chairman of the Korea Student Aid Foundation, said, "Through the Lottery Fund Dream Ladder Scholarship Project, I hope it becomes an opportunity for students to take one step closer to their dreams without losing hope even in crisis situations."

Additionally, the second round of SOS scholarship selection is scheduled to be conducted in August.
