Korbit's New Ethereum Staking Phase 1 Deposit Surpasses 30 Billion KRW
Domestic virtual asset exchange Korbit announced on the 2nd that the deposit amount for the first round of new Ethereum staking, conducted from the 25th of last month to the 1st of this month, exceeded 30 billion KRW.
This new Ethereum staking by Korbit is the first Ethereum staking conducted since the Ethereum Shapella upgrade was completed in April.
In the first Ethereum 2.0 staking recruitment held by Korbit in April 2021, 42 participants staked 640 Ethereum. However, in this new Ethereum staking, 1,072 participants staked a total of 13,504 Ethereum (approximately 33.5 billion KRW), marking more than a 20-fold increase in both the number of participants and the amount of Ethereum staked compared to before.
In April, the Korbit Research Center published a report related to the Shapella upgrade, forecasting that once the upgrade is completed and staked Ethereum can be withdrawn, the uncertainty surrounding Ethereum staking would be resolved. They analyzed that this would positively affect Ethereum fundamentals and increase future demand for staking.
