Goheung Eokkaedongmu Volunteer Group Leads Efforts to Resolve Residents' Daily Inconveniences
Providing Welfare Services in 25 Areas Closely Related to Residents' Daily Lives
The Geocheongun Shoulder-to-Shoulder Volunteer Group in Jeonnam is playing a vital role as a source of vitality for the village by providing customized welfare services that directly visit the villages.
The 227th volunteer activity was held on June 1 at the Shinyang Village Hall in Geumsan-myeon, targeting residents of five villages in Sinchon-ri (Baecheon, Sinchon, Sangchon, Jungdong).
The Shoulder-to-Shoulder Volunteer Group discovers customized volunteer services reflecting the welfare needs of residents and provides welfare services to resolve residents' inconveniences by visiting the villages once or twice a month. Currently, 60 public-private volunteer members participate in 25 fields including beauty care, agricultural machinery and home appliance repair, and life safety.
On the day of the volunteer activity, County Governor Gong Young-min personally visited the site to encourage the volunteers who were working hard and met with residents to listen carefully to their difficulties. He also urged the staff to continuously identify and improve inconveniences in the daily lives of the residents to ensure there are no discomforts.
The volunteer group directly visited farms that applied for services in each field to conduct electrical and gas safety inspections and repair broken water pipes and boilers. At the Shinyang Village Hall plaza, they repaired agricultural machinery, home appliances, and sharpened knives, and provided mobile laundry services for those with mobility difficulties.
Inside the hall, various daily life services were provided, including prescriptions of both Western and Korean medicine, physical therapy, magnifying glasses, and facial massages.
A county official said, “The volunteer group provides customized welfare services that residents truly need. We will continue to identify diverse welfare needs of the residents and expand volunteer fields to provide welfare services that residents can feel.”
Meanwhile, the county plans to continue volunteer activities on the 29th of this month at Jukdong Village in Donggang-myeon, targeting three villages in Jukam-ri (Jukdong, Jukrim, Ongam).
