Kim Dong-yeon Appointed as Additional Member of Private Joint Promotion Committee for Establishing Gyeonggi Northern Special Self-Governing Province

On the 1st, Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon presented appointment letters to 14 individuals, including Kim Seong-su, CEO of Forum K Vision, and Lee Yong-geol, Chairman of the Uijeongbu Volunteer Center, at the 'Public-Private Joint Promotion Committee for the Establishment of Gyeonggi Northern Special Autonomous Province' held in the situation room of the northern government office of Gyeonggi Provincial Government.
Governor Kim Dong-yeon referred to the speech "I have a dream" by Martin Luther King Jr., the leader of the American Black liberation movement, saying, "I also have a dream. That the North and South develop in balance together, with the North creating synergy effects suited to its characteristics and the South doing the same according to its own characteristics."
He continued, "I believe one of the fundamental bases to realize this dream is the Northern Special Autonomous Province. Recently, the Peace Economy Special Zone Act was passed, creating a good foundation for the development of the North," adding, "If we unite our efforts, I think we can achieve this dream together with nearly 4 million residents of the North and also nearly 15 million residents of the South."
The Public-Private Joint Promotion Committee for the Establishment of Gyeonggi Northern Special Autonomous Province is a public-private cooperative organization for overall coordination and advisory activities related to the establishment of the Northern Special Autonomous Province, and the appointed members serve a two-year term.
Previously, on December 21 of last year, the committee was inaugurated with 11 members, including former National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang and Kang Seong-jong, President of Shinhan University (co-chairs), and has been actively engaged in various fields. With this additional appointment, a total of 25 members are now active.

On the day, the members received reports from the Gyeonggi Northern Special Autonomous Province Promotion Team on the progress and plans for the establishment of the Northern Special Autonomous Province, the status of the vision development strategy establishment project, and the progress of the resident-participatory deliberative public opinion survey.
