Yang Yi-won "Should Severe Punishment Be Given When the Media Attacks?"
Yang Eui-won, a member of the Democratic Party, said that Rep. Kim Nam-guk, who disappeared for 17 days after leaving the Democratic Party amid suspicions of a multi-billion won cryptocurrency scandal and returned to the National Assembly the day before, "should make an active apology." He also said there is no clear standard for disciplinary action within the party, questioning, "Is it that if the media attacks, that person should receive severe punishment, and if the media does not attack, then they don't? Is that how it is?"
On the 1st, Yang Eui-won said on SBS's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' "Currently, we have many lawmakers who are under prosecution and have been found guilty in the first trial. However, there is no single guideline on whether they should resign if they are prosecuted or found guilty in the first trial," adding, "There is no standard for this."

Although prosecutors say otherwise, strange investigative information that can only come from the prosecution is leaking to the media, causing a witch hunt that shakes our entire party. Therefore, it seems necessary to establish standards within the party on how to properly respond to this situation."
However, when asked by the host which point would be appropriate for disciplinary action?upon prosecution, first trial guilty verdict, or final Supreme Court guilty verdict?Yang said, "I don't think it's easy for me to make that judgment."
He advised Rep. Kim to make an active apology. He pointed out, "I thought he had apologized, but after hearing from those around him, it seems the apology was not sincere. He invested his entire assets in a very unstable area, and during committee sessions, he made short-term buy and sell transactions in real-time with thousands (in amount)."
Yang Eui-won said, "Because of that, the entire cryptocurrency market was shaken, and many young people invest in cryptocurrency. It has come to seem like investing in cryptocurrency itself is a problem, and related industries are now under raids and investigations. In this overall situation, it is right to sincerely apologize."

If he hasn't done so, I hope he will frankly explain why not," and said, "Saying these things, then going through disciplinary procedures for the wrongdoing and making a statement?that is the first step, in my opinion."
