Gwangju Shinsegae Awards 28th Regional Talent Hope Scholarship
Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Dong-hoon) announced on the 31st that it held the '28th Regional Talent Hope Scholarship Award Ceremony.'
Since its opening in 1995, Gwangju Shinsegae has been delivering scholarships to middle and high school students in the Gwangju area as part of its social contribution activities to nurture local talent, in collaboration with local government offices and scholarship foundations.
The scholarship recipients include children from single-parent families, children from low-income households, and those with outstanding social service activities. Over 28 years, despite challenging business conditions, Gwangju Shinsegae's scholarship program has achieved remarkable results by supporting a total of 3100 local talents with over 3.2 billion KRW.
On this day, 64.99 million KRW was donated to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, and 20 million KRW was donated last month to the Seo-gu Scholarship Foundation, as well as to organizations such as the Roksu Scholarship Foundation, to be delivered sequentially. This year, about 130 outstanding students were recommended, and a total of 130 million KRW will be supported annually.
Kim Young-chun, Managing Director of Gwangju Shinsegae, said, "The ultimate goal of the social contribution activities pursued by Gwangju Shinsegae since its opening is the happy life of all local residents through the active practice of sharing management. We will continue to provide ongoing support so that local youth in difficult environments do not lose hope and courage, can focus on their studies, and nurture their dreams."
Meanwhile, the event was graced by the attendance of Kim Young-chun, Managing Director of Gwangju Shinsegae, Lee Hong-ryeol, Ambassador of the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, and Kim Eun-young, Head of the Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation.
