Since 2020, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has selected and supported medical institutions performing projects in three fields annually.
This year, the Ministry called for applications in the areas of ▲medical staff education and training ▲creation of a smart medication safety environment ▲management of smart hospital environments. Korea University Guro Hospital was selected as the lead institution for the 'medical staff education and training' project.
Korea University Guro Hospital plans to establish a 'multi-user surgical education and training virtual reality (VR) platform' based on a metaverse (extended virtual world) 3D environment in collaboration with the Armed Forces Capital Hospital, Sian Solution, and Bluebeaker, aiming to train medical personnel for rapid and safe treatment of severe surgical patients. Through this, the hospital explained that it expects synergy effects such as ▲reducing the medical gap between metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas ▲providing an education and training system for severe trauma training ▲resolving training difficulties in military medical fields ▲improving patient safety environments within the hospital.
