Gyeonggi-do Issues Mobile Certification for Diligent Taxpayers via 'Gyeonggi TtokD' App...Nation's First
Gyeonggi Province will introduce mobile certificates for diligent taxpayers through the 'Gyeonggi TtokD' app starting in June. Diligent taxpayers will be able to easily authenticate and use various benefits provided by Gyeonggi Province.
The mobile certificate is issued to individuals, and those selected as diligent taxpayers can download the 'Gyeonggi TtokD' mobile app on their personal mobile phones, complete the identity verification process, and present the generated mobile certificate to the required institutions for use.
Meritorious taxpayers will also be issued mobile certificates in the same manner and can present them to receive exemptions or discounts on parking fees at public parking lots.
Gyeonggi Province has received continuous complaints from taxpayers about the inconvenience of storing and using paper certificates that were previously issued to diligent taxpayers.
With the nationwide first introduction of the mobile certificate, Gyeonggi Province expects that much of the inconvenience caused by damage to paper certificates or reissuance will be resolved.
To foster a culture of diligent tax payment, Gyeonggi Province selects individuals as diligent taxpayers who have no outstanding taxes as of January 1 each year and have faithfully paid four or more local taxes annually for the past seven years.
Diligent taxpayers receive benefits such as discounts on comprehensive medical examination fees at contracted medical institutions and exemption from various financial fees at the provincial treasury.
Additionally, among diligent taxpayers, those separately selected as meritorious taxpayers based on local finance and community contribution receive benefits including diligent taxpayer benefits, a three-year tax audit deferral, and exemption from public parking fees.
Choi Won-sam, Director of the Provincial Taxation Division, stated, "The introduction of the diligent taxpayer mobile certificate has greatly improved ease of use, and we also expect promotional effects for provincial administration through the expansion of 'Gyeonggi TtokD' mobile app users. We will strive to practice advanced taxation by providing useful tax information to taxpayers using the functions of 'Gyeonggi TtokD' in the future."
