Youth preparing for independence are those who have lived in child care facilities, group homes, or foster care and have aged out of protection at 18 years old (or up to 24 years old if they wish). In Gyeonggi Province, an average of 370 youth preparing for independence take their first steps into society alone each year.
However, these youth face difficulties in finding listings and signing contracts to secure immediate housing, as they must take full responsibility for their livelihood and all aspects of life once protection ends.
Accordingly, on the 30th, Gyeonggi Province held an appointment ceremony at the provincial office and decided to connect 49 heads of local branches of the Gyeonggi Southern and Northern Real Estate Agents Association, appointed as 'Real Estate Brokerage Assistants,' with youth preparing for independence.
From now on, youth preparing for independence in the province will receive information about real estate brokerage assistants in their desired residential areas through the Gyeonggi Province Independence Support Agency, allowing them to check real estate listings together and receive support in reviewing contracts.
For housing contracts under 200 million KRW, low-income residents can receive up to 300,000 KRW in brokerage fee assistance through the Gyeonggi Province Brokerage Fee Support Program.
