Yeosu Hyangilam Shares Compassionate Rice on Buddha's Birthday Celebration
Donation of 1080kg of White Rice to Low-Income Vulnerable Groups in the Region
Hyangiram, a temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism located in Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, held a rice donation ceremony on the 25th in celebration of Buddha's Birthday.
On this day, Ven. Yeongyu, the head monk of Hyangiram, donated 1,080 kg of white rice, wishing for the healthy lives of low-income vulnerable groups and those in blind spots of welfare within the Yeocheon-dong area.
Ven. Yeongyu said, "I am glad to be able to practice sharing for neighbors in need ahead of Buddha's Birthday," adding, "I will continue to seek out and help struggling neighbors in the community to practice Buddha's compassion and love."
Lee Sunam, the head of Yeocheon-dong, expressed gratitude, saying, "I thank Ven. Yeongyu and the Buddhist followers for showing Buddha's compassion to the neighbors in need in Yeocheon-dong," and added, "We will do our best to make Yeocheon-dong a better place to live without any marginalized neighbors."
