Hampyeong-gun Rolls Up Sleeves to Help with Farm Work During Busy Season
Focused Promotion in May-June, the Harvest Season for Onions and Garlic
Support Linked to Local Farms Including Elderly and Small-Scale Farmers by Department
Officials from Hampyeong County Office rolled up their sleeves to help local farms struggling with labor shortages during the busy farming season.
On the 30th, Hampyeong County in Jeollanam-do announced that it is promoting rural labor assistance to support local farms facing difficulties in securing labor during the busy farming season due to rural population decline and aging.
The labor assistance targets elderly farmers, small-scale farmers, and disabled farmers, with priority given to socially vulnerable groups.
The county has designated May and June, when garlic and onion harvesting is concentrated, as the main period for labor assistance and is coordinating with local farms through each department.
Additionally, a rural labor assistance referral desk is being operated so that farms in need of labor can inquire at the town and township offices, and the county plans to connect them with related organizations such as military units and the Agricultural Cooperative.
