Police Launch Investigation into LG Pro Baseball Player Lee Cheon-woong on Illegal Gambling Charges
The police have launched an investigation into Lee Cheon-woong (34) of the professional baseball team LG Twins on suspicion of illegal gambling.
On the 25th, the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul announced that on the 23rd, they obtained a warrant from the court to track Lee's bank accounts and secured materials related to illegal gambling. The police are reportedly examining the scale and timing of the illegal gambling activities.
The KBO received a tip at the end of March that "a player from a metropolitan area team was involved in illegal online gambling" and requested an investigation from the prosecution. The Seoul Suseo Police Station, which was assigned the case, conducted one complainant interview before transferring it to the Gwangjin Police Station, where Lee resides.
The police plan to summon Lee for questioning based on the account analysis results.
