Ulsan Hwahar-ro 'Underground Power Line' Phase 2 Project Launch
Boksan Intersection to Banggu Intersection 1.66km Completion in August
Ulsan City is starting the 'Hwahap-ro Underground Cable Phase 2 Project.'
The 'Hwahap-ro Underground Cable Project' involves a total budget of 21.2 billion KRW and covers a 4.89 km stretch (both sides) from Jung-gu Office to the Intercity Bus Intersection. The project is divided into four phases, which began in March 2018 and are scheduled to be completed by December 2024.
The Phase 1 section of Hwahap-ro (from Jung-gu Office to Boksan Intersection, 1.3 km extension) was completed in 2020. The Phase 3 (from Hakseong Bridge to Terminal Intersection, 1.5 km extension) and Phase 4 (from Terminal Intersection to Intercity Bus Intersection, 0.43 km extension) sections are planned to start construction by the end of this year.
The Phase 2 project section involves undergrounding power and communication lines along a 1.66 km stretch (both sides) from Boksan Intersection to Ban-gu Intersection in Jung-gu. Construction began on May 25 and is scheduled to be completed by August.
The total project cost is 7 billion KRW, which will be equally shared 50% each by Ulsan City, the project executor Korea Electric Power Corporation, and broadcasting and telecommunications operators.

Following the 'Mid- to Long-term Plan for Undergrounding Power Lines,' Ulsan City has been promoting underground cable projects on major arterial roads since 2014, completing construction on a total of 19 routes (excluding Hwahap-ro), covering 32.7 km.
