WTO Secretary-General Visits Naver '1784' Featuring Advanced Technology Integration
The future-oriented space embodying Naver's cutting-edge technology, the second headquarters 1784, continues to attract global attention.
On the 23rd, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the WTO (World Trade Organization), visited Naver 1784 during her trip to Korea. Director-General Ngozi is the first African and the first female to hold the position at the WTO. This visit marks the first time in about 10 years since 2014 that a WTO Director-General has visited Korea, and it is the first time a WTO Director-General has directly visited a Korean internet platform company.
Director-General Ngozi and her delegation experienced firsthand the advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and digital twins possessed by Naver, a leading Korean IT company, at 1784. They emphasized the importance of digital technology in the field of trade. The visit was attended by Naver's Head of External and ESG Policy, Cha Seon-ju, and Naver Labs CEO Seok Sang-ok, among others.
After experiencing the various technologies applied at 1784, WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala stated, "Digital technology will determine the future of trade, and digital transformation will bring both challenges and opportunities to industries and governments worldwide." She added, "Through today's inspiring discussions with young Korean digital entrepreneurs, I was able to confirm that Korea is at the forefront of digital transformation, and the WTO will contribute to international cooperation and the establishment of domestic policy frameworks to promote digital trade."
Naver's second headquarters 1784 is the world's first robot-friendly building, a tech convergence space that continuously evolves through the fusion of advanced technology and space. Numerous technologies such as AI, robotics, digital twins, autonomous driving, cloud, and 5G are integrated into the building space itself.
The innovative technological experiments that Naver is attempting through 1784 are attracting attention from around the world. As of March this year, more than 4,000 people from 54 countries, including the U.S. Deputy Secretaries of State and Homeland Security, Singapore's Minister of Communications and Information, and the Speaker of the Austrian National Council, have visited.
