Neowiz Acquires MMORPG Specialist Developer 'PawGames'
Neowiz announced on the 22nd that it has acquired the mobile massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) specialist developer ‘Pow Games’ and incorporated it as a subsidiary.
Through this merger and acquisition, Neowiz aims to secure new intellectual property (IP) and strengthen its in-house development capabilities. The company plans to enhance its competitiveness in domestic and international game markets by diversifying its mobile game lineup, including MMORPGs and collection-type role-playing games (RPGs).
‘Pow Games’ is a mobile MMORPG specialist developer established in November 2018. It possesses excellent development skills as well as operational capabilities to directly service games. Pow Games’ first game, ‘Kingdom: The Flame of War,’ entered the top 10 in Google Store sales within five days of its domestic release in May 2020. With its medieval traditional fantasy theme and large-scale siege battles, it also succeeded in a global launch. After the recent 3rd anniversary update, it re-entered the top 20 in Google sales rankings.
‘Priston Tale M,’ which utilizes the original PC game ‘Priston Tale’ IP, emphasizes adventure and rewarding combat, and has expanded to 12 Asian countries including South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Recently, Pow Games signed an IP contract with the Japanese game developer ‘Nihon Falcom’ for the ‘The Legend of Heroes: Gagharv Trilogy’ IP. This RPG series has continued since its first release in 1989. Pow Games is currently concentrating its development know-how to develop it as a mobile game.
