Missing 60-Year-Old Man from Yeonhwado, Tongyeong ... 12 Hours of Search Underway
At around 7:56 a.m. on the 21st, a man in his 60s who was camping after fishing on Yeonhwado Island in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam, went missing, prompting the Coast Guard to begin a search.
According to the Tongyeong Coast Guard Station, Mr. A was fishing on the rocky shore of Yeonhwado with his group the previous day and rested in their respective tents, but on the morning of the 21st, both he and his tent disappeared.
After receiving a report from the group that Mr. A was missing, the Tongyeong Coast Guard dispatched patrol vessels, coastal rescue boats, and the Tongyeong rescue team to the scene to conduct underwater searches around the rocky shore and aerial searches using drones.

During the underwater search, Mr. A’s tent, mobile phone, sleeping bag, and other personal belongings were found, but Mr. A himself was not located.
The Coast Guard deployed three patrol vessels, two rescue boats, one helicopter, and drones for the search, but as night fell, they faced difficulties in locating the missing person.

A Tongyeong Coast Guard official said, “We are conducting concentrated searches on land and sea around the reported location to find the missing person,” and added, “If anyone navigating or fishing nearby spots the missing person, please report immediately.”
