Jeju Coast Guard Holds Communication Meeting to Activate Public-Private Cooperation System
Jeju Maritime Police Station (Chief So Byung-yong) announced on the 19th that it held a communication meeting on the 2nd floor conference room of Jeju Maritime Police Station to strengthen the public-private rescue cooperation system and revitalize the private maritime rescue team.

At the communication meeting, eight people including the heads of each branch of the Korea Maritime Rescue Association Jeju Branch reminded once again the hard work and importance of the private maritime rescue team, and held a communication meeting to discuss the basic joint training plan for disaster preparedness and strengthening on-site response capabilities in case of accidents.
The private maritime rescue team currently has 170 members under the jurisdiction of Jeju Police Substation, 111 members under Hallim Police Substation, and 11 members under Chuja Police Substation. In addition, special rescue teams and drone search teams are active, and in 2022, they rescued 56 people on 18 vessels, greatly helping to protect the lives and property of the public.
To strengthen the cooperation system with the private maritime rescue team, they requested continuous cooperation in safety patrols of vulnerable areas against bad weather and in case of marine accidents, while collecting opinions and listening to difficulties for mutual development.
A Jeju Maritime Police official said, “Private rescue resources are essential elements for initial response and rapid rescue in case of marine accidents, and we will actively protect the lives and property of the public by revitalizing the public-private cooperation system.”
