First, he received a brief explanation about the general status of the National Health Insurance Service (Andong Branch) and the system changes for 2023, along with a report on five key issue projects, including the introduction of a special investigative system to crack down on illegal institutions such as office-head hospitals.
Afterwards, he held a meeting with the Service staff to encourage them and exchanged various opinions on ways to connect and cooperate with Andong City to guarantee citizens' health rights.
Mayor Kwon also spent time directly performing civil complaint consultation duties at the comprehensive civil service office, listening to difficulties expressed by the citizens.
Additionally, Mayor Kwon showed great interest in advance directives regarding life-sustaining treatment and, hoping that citizens would participate, took the lead by filling out an advance directive form himself.
An advance directive form is a document in which a patient, anticipating the terminal stage of life, expresses their wishes in advance regarding life-sustaining treatment or its withdrawal.
It was established to respect the patient's self-determination and to protect human dignity and value as a person.
