Pohang Guryongpo Gwamegi Culture Center Hosts Commemorative Exhibition for Artist Seosangmun's Visit to Guryongpo
Memorial Exhibition of Western Painter Seosangmun from 20th to 29th
Featuring Familiar Works of Hometown and Sea Landscapes
To celebrate Family Month in May, Pohang City will hold a solo exhibition titled "Painter Seo Sang-moon's Visit to Guryongpo" at the first-floor special exhibition hall of the Guryongpo Gwamegi Culture Center from the 20th to the 29th.
The exhibited works consist of emotionally familiar themes for viewers, such as the sea, rivers, boatmen, night sea, rain, natural landscapes, and scenes with figures. Additionally, the artworks emphasize empty space and are painted with light colors, evoking the feel of traditional Korean painting styles, allowing viewers to reflect inwardly and quietly contemplate and introspect.
Seo Sang-moon, born in Pohang, holds a Ph.D. in History from the Graduate School of the National Chengchi University. He has been actively involved in writing academic papers related to the Korean independence movement, the Korean War, and modern Chinese history, as well as delivering humanities lectures, talks, and column contributions in Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan. Currently, he is also active as a poet, essayist, and painter.
Kim Jae-seon, Director of the Fisheries Product Quality Management Center, said, "The works exhibited by painter Seo Sang-moon are composed of pieces that gently soothe the emotions of busy modern people," adding, "After enjoying this exhibition, which offers a valuable experience to reflect on sensitivity and inner self, visitors can tour the Gwamegi Culture Center and feel the vast sea from the observatory on the fourth floor, creating wonderful memories."
