Lee Jun-seok "Watching Jeon Woo-won's Actions with Interest"
Former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok and Jeon Woo-won, the grandson of the late former President Jeon Du-hwan, met at the eve event commemorating the May 18 Democratic Uprising. The two met on the 17th at the May 18 Democratic Uprising commemoration eve event held in Geumnam-ro, Dong-gu, Gwangju, where they made rice balls together with members of the May Mothers' House.
The meeting between former leader Lee and Mr. Jeon was not a pre-arranged schedule. Mr. Jeon first visited the rice ball sharing booth to meet members of the May Mothers' House, and former leader Lee also happened to visit the event venue, leading to their encounter.
Former leader Lee visited Gwangju together with Cheon Ha-ram, the party committee chairman of Suncheon Gap in Jeollanam-do, lawmaker Heo Eun-ah, former Supreme Council member Kim Yong-tae, and former party leader’s political affairs chief Kim Cheol-geun.
After exchanging brief greetings, former leader Lee and Mr. Jeon put on orange aprons and made rice balls side by side. After making rice balls together for about 10 minutes, they dispersed and each listened to the stories of citizens.
After participating in the rice ball making event, former leader Lee told reporters, "The citizens of Gwangju do not reject conservatives unconditionally," adding, "They react sensitively to acts that sprinkle salt on painful past wounds and cause harm, but they welcome anyone who truly comes to contribute to Gwangju and Honam."

He added, "Although I did not have a deep conversation with Jeon Woo-won today, I am watching his actions with interest, and probably many people in South Korea, including Gwangju citizens, are paying attention to his path."
