Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that on the 16th, it signed a business agreement with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (Yeongdeungpo Police Station) and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) in the main conference room of Yeongdeungpo Police Station to create a safe environment for small-scale unmanned stores.
The signing ceremony was attended by Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, Cho Chang-bae, Chief of Yeongdeungpo Police Station, and Lee Won-tae, Director of KISA, who shared a commitment to reduce crimes in unmanned stores and enhance the safety of small business owners and users through safety technologies.
The agreement institutions will mutually cooperate on ▲ spreading and applying safety technologies for unmanned stores ▲ analyzing changes in crime rates targeting unmanned stores ▲ conducting policy research to establish a safe unmanned store industry ecosystem ▲ collecting opinions from stakeholders such as small business owners, investigators, and users related to unmanned stores ▲ jointly promoting projects and raising awareness.
The district was selected as a pilot area for building a safety network for unmanned stores promoted by KISA. Access authentication devices and intelligent CCTV systems will be installed in unmanned stores located within the region to prevent crimes such as theft and property damage.
As of May, there are a total of 167 unmanned stores in the area, and their number is rapidly increasing every year. The district expects that once the unmanned store safety system is commercialized, it will greatly help not only in preventing crimes against children and adolescents but also in protecting the property of unmanned store owners.
To prevent crimes in unmanned stores, the district is promoting ▲ the formation of a public-private-police network and holding meetings ▲ conducting child protection campaigns ▲ installing conscience mirrors and signboards inside unmanned stores ▲ regular patrols by functional organizations in each neighborhood.
