From Korea to the US... Gyeongnam Jeongbo University Graduate Ventures into Startup Dreaming of 100 Billion Won
Graduates from the Physical Therapy Department startup club ‘PTBro’ at Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Dae-sik) have achieved successful entrepreneurship through the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ ‘Startup-Centered University Preliminary Startup Package’ selected during their enrollment.
PTBro, a medical venture company named after the club, is led by CEO Kim Tae-hoon and staffed entirely by graduates from Gyeongnam Information University’s Physical Therapy Department. They have showcased next-generation medical devices by winning various competitions since their school days.
‘Acheless,’ developed by PTBro, is a portable SSP (silver spike point) smart self-homecare wearable device applying patented technology to relieve temporomandibular joint and forward head posture pain (headache).
Currently, it has obtained KC certification and is undergoing domestic and international launch procedures, including U.S. FDA approval. With mass production targeted for September, a sales contract worth 500 million KRW is underway, and the company aims to enter the U.S. market and achieve 100 billion KRW in sales within three years.
PTBro is enhancing its corporate capabilities through various government support programs such as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ ‘Startup-Centered University Preliminary Startup Package,’ ‘Pre-TIPS,’ R&D support projects, and Busan City’s incubator support projects. In addition to ‘Acheless,’ they are developing various medical devices for everyday use.
CEO Kim Tae-hoon of PTBro said, “I was able to come this far thanks to various benefits received during my time at Gyeongnam Information University’s Physical Therapy Department,” adding, “To achieve our goals of entering the U.S. market and reaching 100 billion KRW in sales, we plan to promote various industry-academic joint technology development projects with my alma mater, Gyeongnam Information University.”
